Microsoft.NET Spotlight on Technology: Business Analytics

As Microsoft technology evolves, New World’s solution continues to offer enhanced capabilities and functionality that allows school districts to work smarter. One such capability is Business Analytics, a powerful tool for performance measurement in local school districts.

School districts must be able to run reports and view data in many different ways, including being able to drill down from a summary into the details. Many vendors provide standard and customized reports as well as ad-hoc query tools to retrieve the data. However, none of these tools actually provides useful information.

But New World sees Business Analytics as less about data collection and more about answering a question. Instead of thinking about all of the reports you need to run and how all of the disparate data needs to be reconfigured to produce output that tells you if you are in budget, you can simply ask “Am I in budget?” New World’s system can then provide you with a visual answer where you can drill into the details at your discretion, eliminating much of the work and allowing you to focus on making decisions. Furthermore, the use of data prediction, provided by Microsoft Analysis Services, can be used as a tool to view different scenarios when planning future budgets.
